The Ringer's Todd McShay is speculating Texas quarterback Arch Manning could end up as C.J. Stroud's successor on the Houston Texans.

Manning went to the Texans with the No. 1 pick of the 2027 NFL draft on a flash mock conducted by McShay and co-host Steve Muench on Thursday's episode of The McShay Show.

Here's a look at the results of the flash mock, which started around the 16:00 mark of the podcast.

Speculation the Texans could be planning to target a quarterback in the upcoming draft follows the team's 0-4 start to the season and their decision to let Stroud enter the 2026 campaign without an extension.

The Texans will need to decide by the 2027 draft whether the team is committing to Stroud on a long-term basis or setting themselves up to pivot toward another starter by the time his contract expires in 2028.

Whether or not Manning hears his name called at the top of the draft, McShay and Muench speculated star Ohio State wideout Jeremiah Smith is going no later than No. 2. In this mock, he would end up in Tennessee to provide help for Cam Ward ahead of his third NFL season.

Smith was ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect on the latest B/R 2027 NFL Draft Big Board.

Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, the No. 2 prospect on the B/R Big Board, was projected by McShay to help shore up the Los Angeles Chargers' secondary at No. 4.

Miami's Darian Mensah was the only quarterback ranked as a top-10 prospect on the B/R Big Board, but he wasn't one of the four signal callers listed on McShay's flash mock.

McShay predicted Notre Dame's CJ Carr, Oregon's Dante Moore and Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss would be next off the board to the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, respectively.

At least one of the five winless clubs at the top of McShay's mock draft are on track to earn a first victory of the season this weekend. The Texans and Tennessee Titans are set to match up in a battle of 0-4 teams Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
