Sean McVay Says Rams Coaches Have to 'Get the Hell Out of the Way' After Sideline Penalty vs. Eagles

After a member of his staff committed a rare gaffe in Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay accepted responsibility for the mistake.

Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone was called for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for standing too close to the field when an official who was running down the sideline collided with him. McVay said he and his staff deserve criticism just as much as his players receive when they commit penalties.

"Focus, concentration and situational awareness, we have to do a better job on that," McVay said, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "When it rains, it pours. Shoot, we're getting penalties on our staff now too. Thank God we won that one. Rags would have never lived that one down. He felt bad about that one. So he took great accountability. We'll get everybody the hell out of the way. And I need to get the hell out of the way as well."

In all, the Rams were flagged eight times for 100 penalty yards. Still, they managed to escape with a 24-20 win following an impressive fourth-quarter comeback.

McVay and the Rams (2-2) will try to stay focused as they prepare for a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills (3-1) on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
