Lamar Jackson Injury Update, Latest Rumors on Ravens QB's Status for NFL Week 6 vs. Browns
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson could be back on the field in time for a Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson has a "realistic chance to return for Sunday's game at Cleveland," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.
Jackson was out for Week 5 as Tyler Huntley led the Ravens to an overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons.
He initially left Week 4'sย 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans with an ankle injury and didn't play in the second half, a concerning development for a Ravens' offense very much reliant on the dynamic quarterback's unique skill set.
While the Ravens didn't believe at the time it was going to be a long-term issue, there was uncertainty over his short-term availability.
"I really don't think it's going to be crazy long term, but we'll see what happens," head coach Jesse Minter told reporters at the time.
There's no replacing a two-time MVP and three-time first-team All-Pro like Jackson, though the Ravens do have an experienced backup in Huntley.
"There's one Lamar Jackson, the guy's a two-time MVP," Minter said after Week 4. "And so I think for anybody to have to say we're being compared to Lamar is unfair and not realistic. I think [Huntley] as a backup quarterback in this league and even as a starter at times has shown the ability to come in and really kind of run the offense, make plays with his legs, be able to make plays on third down."
Injuries were also a concern for Jackson last season, as he missed four games due to a hamstring injury and a back contusion. Huntley started two of those games, leading the team to a 2-0 record. But the Ravens are obviously a much more dangerous team with a healthy Jackson.
