NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor Says 'Pump the Brakes' on Giants' Success After Win vs. Cardinals
The New York Giants moved to 3-1 on the season after defeating the Arizona Cardinals 36-24 on Sunday, leaving them alone atop the NFC East standings.
But the team's fast start isn't enough for franchise legend Lawrence Taylor to assume big things are the horizon. At least not yet.
"Let's pump the brakes a bit on that," he told The Athletic's Ian O'Connor on Sunday night. "... They won today. Let's see if this propels them to more winning."
Giants' fans can perhaps be forgiven for feeling the hype. After all, the franchise only has three winning seasons, two playoff appearances and one playoff win since the start of the 2012 season. The team has lost 10 or more games in eight of the past nine seasons heading into 2026. It's been bleak.
But with John Harbaugh now leading a young and ascendant roster, there is hope.
"It's obvious they have good coaching now, and that's how you develop good players," Taylor told O'Connor. "Nothing against (Harbaugh's) predecessors, but he's a proven winner and he knows how to deal with talent. And there's not much more to say about that."
