Cam Skattebo Rips 'Dumb' Underdog Label After Giants' Win to Be 1st in NFC East Standings

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo wanted to prove a point in Sunday's 36-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

"It's dumb. It's dumb to be underdogs at home, especially when you're a good football team," he told reporters after the game. "When people want to bet against you at your own place and you have a team coming from a six-hour flight on a time change, it's a pretty brutal feeling as a team when you feel you're put underneath them. We came out here and handled business."

The Giants didn't earn a lot of style points in their victory. Skattebo and Najee Harris combined to run for 88 yards on 27 carries, while quarterback Jameis Winston delivered what's a trademark performance for him. He threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns but had two interceptions and got sacked four times.

New York benefited from Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett throwing three interceptions himself. The last one was a pick-six on the game's final play with Arizona looking at 4th-and-goal from the 4-yard line.

To the victor go the spoils.

Skattebo has every right to savor the result and call out the Giants' skeptics with his squad leading the NFC East at 3-1.

But the final score is a little deceiving as to how close New York was to validating its underdog status.
