Jordyn Tyson Injury Update and Timeline to Return to Saints Revealed in New NFL Rumors

Don't expect to see New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson as soon as he's eligible to be activated from injured reserve.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the rookie "is still considered to be weeks away from returning to action" from a hamstring injury. He may not be healthy enough to play until Week 7, and the quirks of the Saints' schedule could delay his debut until Week 9.

New Orleans plays the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris in Week 7, which presents a less than ideal situation to have a first-year player get his initial NFL snaps. The team then has a bye in Week 8.

That means the Nov. 8 matchup with the Cleveland Browns could be Tyson's most realistic return date.

The Saints placed the No. 8 overall pick on injured reserve in August. He could be activated as early as Week 5, when they host the Minnesota Vikings.

However, head coach Kellen Moore was noncommittal when asked last week about the potential for Tyson to start practicing.

Chris Olave is averaging an NFL-high 125 receiving yards per game. Beyond him, the Saints' receiver depth falls off pretty dramatically. Devaughn Vele has solid numbers so far (15 receptions for 172 yards and one touchdown) but hasn't proven himself over a full season. Bryce Lance, Kevin Austin and Barion Brown have also gotten snaps.

Tyson isn't the only notable offensive player on IR, either. Running back Travis Etienne Jr., one of New Orleans' big offseason signings, is out indefinitely.

Missing Tyson for potentially another month is a tough blow, but the team appears content to be patient with his recovery.
