Briscoe's win came as a huge relief to the driver of the No. 19 car, who was passed late last week at Kansas by Kyle Larson.
This time around, Briscoe held off Larson and the rest of the pack to claim his second victory of the season.
Larson made a late surge over the final 10 laps, but he was unable to catch the leader.
In fact, Larson slammed into the wall on the final lap in his final attempt to try and catch Briscoe.
Larson collected Tyler Reddick in the accident. Reddick finished in third place, but he crossed the finish line close to pit road because of the accident.
Larson was the big winner in the points standings on Sunday, as he opened up his advantage over Denny Hamlin to 40 points.
Hamlin experienced a rough day that culminated in a 16th place finish. Hamlin was the regular-season points leader, but over the last few weeks, he drifted further behind Larson.
Christopher Bell, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Briscoe are the only other drivers within 100 points of Larson with five weeks left in the NASCAR playoffs.
The Cup Series heads to Charlotte next Sunday, where Bell, Hamlin and Larson all finished in the top five back in May behind winner Daniel Suarez.
