Seahawks Owner Vinod Khosla 'Has No Plans' to Relocate Team, Calls Out 'Reporters Looking for Views'

Seattle Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla clarified his recent remarks, making it clear he is not looking to relocate the franchise.

In a post on X, Khosla wrote there are "no plans" to move the Seahawks and blamed the "reporters looking for views" by "distort(ing) my answer out of context" to a question about their future.

The comment being referenced was in an interview Khosla did with Dan Primack of Axios in which he was specifically asked about committing to keeping the Seahawks in Seattle.

"I will never say never," Khosla replied. "Will this team be in Seattle 500 years from now? But I have no current plans to change anything about the team, including the coach, president, operation or Lumen Field. It all functions well."

The Khosla family, including Vinod, his wife Neeru and their son Neal, officially took over as owners of the Seahawks on Sept. 3 when their $9.6 billion purchase of the franchise from Paul Allen's estate closed.

There had been no indications Khosla was exploring a move, but Primack pointed out there was no formal commitment in the purchase agreement to keep the Seahawks in Seattle and asked if he would make that pledge.

This seems like a case of neither side being in the wrong. Primack asked if Khosla would keep the club where they are, and he responded by saying not right now.

The Seahawks' current lease with Lumen Field runs through the 2032 season, but there are options in the deal that could extend it out to 2062.

Given the way that things ended for the SuperSonics in Seattle, you can understand why fans in the city might be a little trepidatious whenever the owner of one of their sports teams leaves open the possibility for relocation.

The Seahawks have been playing in the NFL since 1976. They have reached the Super Bowl four times since the 2005 season, winning in 2013 and 2025.
