Myles Garrett Injury Update, Latest NFL Rumors on Rams Star's Return Timeline After Surgery

The Los Angeles Rams reportedly have a positive outlook when it comes to the anticipated return of superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett.

According to Jonathan Jones of The Athletic, the Rams are hopeful Garrett will be able to return from his knee injury against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18 when he is first eligible to be activated off injured reserve.

Jones added that a source told him rumors and speculation of Garrett potentially missing six weeks would represent a "worst-case scenario," and a team source expressed their belief that Garrett will return on Oct. 25 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

After being limited during training camp, Garrett suited up for the Rams' season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.

The seven-time Pro Bowler, five-time First Team All-Pro and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year did not look like himself, though, as he failed to record a counting stat on 40 defensive snaps played.

Coming out of that game, Garrett underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee and was placed on injured reserve, meaning he would have to miss the Rams' next two games.

Los Angeles has gone 1-1 without him, and the team is just 1-2 overall, which is somewhat surprising given the Rams' status as the unquestioned Super Bowl favorite entering the season.

Garrett's arrival is a big reason why the Rams were widely considered the team to beat in 2026.

He is coming off a historic campaign, as Garrett set the single-season NFL record with 23 sacks in 2025.

The Rams got aggressive and acquired him in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, sending pass-rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks in the other direction.

While the deal has not paid dividends for the Rams yet, there is still plenty of time for Garrett to make an impact, particularly if he returns shortly after he is eligible to come off IR.
