Recap and Highlights

The Braves didn't take long to open the scoring on Thursday, as Harris hit a three-run homer over the wall in right field following a pair of walks in the bottom of the first inning.

Aaron Nola started for the Phillies, but dealt with command issues and only lasted 1.2 innings before he was replaced by reliever Tim Mayza. Zack Wheeler eventually took the mound for Philadelphia in the third frame.

Wheeler couldn't keep the Braves off the board either, as Austin Riley walked in the bottom of the fourth before Albies launched a two-run shot to right field that gave Atlanta a 5-0 lead.

The Phillies attempted to respond in the fifth inning by putting runners on first and second with no outs, but couldn't score after a flyout by J.T. Realmuto and a ground ball from Justin Crawford that resulted in a double play.

Philadelphia finally cut into the deficit in the top of the sixth, as Kyle Schwarber scored on a groundout by Alec Bohm.

Still, the Braves gained a five-run lead once again with Matt Olson's solo homer to center field two innings later.

The Phillies only trailed 6-2 due to Trea Turner's sacrifice fly that brought home Derek Hill in the eighth, but they ultimately weren't able to rally and keep their season alive in the top of the ninth.

Philadelphia went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in the defeat, a surprise considering it owned the fourth-best batting average with runners in scoring position among all teams during the regular season (via Baseball Reference).

Braves reliever Ray Kerr performed admirably in his postseason debut, receiving an ovation from the crowd as he walked off the field at Truist Park.

Atlanta will now turn its attention towards the Dodgers in the NLDS, with Game 1 starting on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
