Joey Porter Jr. Says Steelers 'Disrespected' Him in Contract Talks Before Cowboys Trade
Before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, Joey Porter Jr. was engaged in contract talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In his eyes, he was being "disrespected" by the Steelers.
"It was a hard process, a lot of ups and downs," Porter told reporters on Thursday. "Definitely felt disrespected. Definitely felt undervalued. But that's old news now. That's how I look at it. I'm on to new beginnings, new chapters."

With his new team, Porter already feels like he's being valued more than he was in Pittsburgh.
"It was the value. I didn't feel like it was really that over there," Porter told reporters. "[Dallas] is showing me that they value me more over here. That's really all I need to show what I can do."
Porter is currently in the final year of his rookie deal and has a base salary of $3.052 million this season. per Spotrac, he has a market value of $27.4 million per year, which would make him the fifth-highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.
While Porter feels more valued in Dallas, the Cowboys don't plan to sign him to an extension during the regular season, according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
The Steelers tried to extend Porter over the offseason but couldn't reach an agreement before the season started. General manager Omar Khan said in August that the team didn't plan to negotiate a deal during the regular season.
Porter has not yet played this season, but he's coming off a year in which he recorded 52 tackles, 14 passes defensed, a sack and an interception while playing 94 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps.
He allowed the third-fewest yards per coverage snap last season, only behind Las Vegas' Erick Sokes and Denver's Pat Surtain II.
Dallas spent the offseason bolstering its defense, but the Cowboys have still allowed the third-most yards per game (387.0) and the eighth-most points per game (27.3) through the first three games.
Clearly, Dallas needs more on defense, and Porter will look to provide it.
The Cowboys take on the Houston Texans on Sunday, and ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that there's "a chance" Porter will be available.
