Phillies Avoid Elimination vs. Braves, Box Score Stats, Highlights After 2026 MLB Wild Card Game 2

Bryce Harper led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves in extra innings, keeping their postseason hopes alive and forcing a National League Wild Card Game 3.

Facing elimination, Philadelphia entered Wednesday's road matchup as 1.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

With their backs against the wall, three solo home runs proved to be the deciding factor in Philadelphia's Game 2 win.

Harper kicked off his big day with a single to left, bringing in Trea Turner for a run in the top of the first.

The Phillies' 1-0 lead was short-lived after Atlanta's Matt Olson notched an RBI in the bottom of the first as the teams went tit for tat to kick off Game 2.

The defense held strong after an exciting first, with no runs scored for five innings despite Atlanta loading the bases with just one out in the top of the sixth.

Atlanta's Drake Baldwin broke the ice in the seventh, doubling to bring in a run. Olson then added his second RBI of the day for the Braves, giving them a 3-1 advantage heading into the eighth.

The Phillies' biggest stars stepped up in the eighth when Kyle Schwarber and Harper hit back-to-back home runs to tie things up at three apiece.

With a chance to walk themselves into the playoffs in the bottom of the ninth, the Braves could not get it done, sending the game to extra innings at Truist Park. Phillies' Alec Bohm then launched a solo home run in the top of the 10th to give Philadelphia the lead.

With two runners on base, Andrew Painter struck out Dominic Smith looking, thanks to an ABS challenge, to seal the win.

The coveted Game 3 will decide who advances to face the No. 2 Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. The game will take place Thursday in Philadelphia, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Coverage will be available on NBC and Peacock.
