Cowboys' Collapse vs. Ravens Makes NFL History as Most-Watched International Game Ever

The Baltimore Ravens' thrilling 34-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday now stands as the most-watched NFL international game in league history, per a CBS Sports press release.

Fans were treated to an incredible game that ended when kicker Tyler Loop smashed a 56-yard field goal as time expired.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson set the kick up by finding wide receiver Zay Flowers for a 27-yard pass and then calling timeout with one second left in regulation.

Dallas looked set for victory just moments earlier after Baltimore Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins was called for a controversial pass interference penalty that put the Cowboys, trailing 31-28, on the Ravens' two-yard line with 23 seconds left.

However, two incomplete passes from Dak Prescott to George Pickens sandwiched a false start and a two-yard Prescott scramble. Dallas settled for a 23-yard field goal.

Baltimore got the ball back on its own 35-yard line with seven seconds left following a touchback. Jackson then went to work, leading to Loop's field goal.

This back-and-forth affair saw Dallas take a 10-0 lead before Baltimore went on a 24-3 run to take a 24-13 edge. The Cowboys responded with two straight touchdowns to take a 28-24 lead, but Jackson fired a touchdown pass to tight end Matthew Hibner to take a 31-28 lead. That led to Dallas' final drive.

Jackson threw two touchdown passes, and running back Derrick Henry scored twice while adding 89 rushing yards. For Dallas, running back Javonte Williams amassed 103 yards from scrimmage and a score, while wideout CeeDee Lamb posted seven catches for 112 yards.

It's no surprise why this game attracted millions of fans. For starters, the Dallas Cowboys are always a massive national attraction. Jackson and the Ravens, who have largely been a winning team since the two-time NFL MVP arrived in 2018, bring tons of fans, too. On paper, this was a competitive game between two potential playoff teams, and it turned into a classic.

Of course, the fact that Cowboys vs. Ravens was the featured national afternoon game at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS as opposed to the typical international slot (9:30 a.m. ET) helped as well.

The Brazil game was the second of nine international series matchups this year. The Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts meet next Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
