Jerry Rice's Son Brenden Gets 49ers Tryout as Mike Evans, More WRs Deal With Injuries

As the San Francisco 49ers continue to deal with injuries and depth issues at wide receiver, a number of players were brought in for tryouts on Tuesday.

That included Brenden Rice, the son of NFL legend Jerry Rice, and former Niners' draft pick Dante Pettis.

Rice, 24, has never registered any stats as an NFL wideout after being a seventh-round selection by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 draft. During his college career at Colorado and USC he caught 111 passes for 1,821 yards and 21 touchdowns across four seasons.

He spent time with the Green Bay Packers this summer before being cut in late July.

San Francisco's receiver room is currently dealing with injuries to Mike Evans (ribs), though it isn't considered a long-term issue; Demarcus Robinson (ankle), De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle) and Christian Kirk (calf), who are all on injured reserve; and Ricky Pearsall, who is out for the season after having knee surgery.
