Eight-Person Tag Team Match

2 of 9
Triplemania 34 - Night 1

Participants: La Parka, Mr. Iguana, Adelicious, and Mascarita Sagrada vs. The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes, and Myka Lockwood) and Mini Abismo Negro

The lucha team of La Parka, Iguana, Adelicious, and Sagrada kicked off the show on a fan-pleasing note, picking up a hard-fought victory in an energy-filled tag match.

The heels did a fantastic job of drawing heat and cheating their way to the advantage, but late dives by Adelicious, Iguana, and La Parka wiped out The Vanity Project at ringside.

Sagrada outmaneuvered the larger Mini Abismo Negro and scored the win for his team from there.

Result

Adelicious, La Parka, Mr. Iguana, and Mascarita Sagrade defeated The Vanity Project and Mini Abismo Negro

Grade

C+

Top Takeaways

  • Early, the emphasis was on Lockwood and for the most part, she performed up to the moment. She struggled to keep pace with Adelicious at a point or two, but she did not let the stage adversely affect her.
  • It never ceases to amaze how much fun and energy these multi-competitor tag matches pack in them. This really had no rhyme or reason, and it did not reinvent the wheel, but it was an immensely good time and featured some solid spotlight for Lockwood.

Dragon Lee vs. Jack Cartwheel

3 of 9
Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Dragon Lee defeated Big Cass (Raw, September 28); Jack Cartwheel lost to Rey Fenix (AAA TripleMania, September 13)

Two of the best, most athletic cruiserweights clashed in the night's second match, a battle of the Superstars who gravity forgot, dedicated by Corey Graves to the family of the late Ben "Pac/Adrian Neville" Satterley, with whom the play-by-play man teamed and feuded.

Non-stop action defined the night's second match, a showcase of two competitors with the speed, agility, athleticism, and never-say-die approach matched by few.

Late in the match, Lee delivered Diamond Dust, stunning Cartwheel. The underdog competitor fought through it and delivered a beautiful crucifix bomb and it looked like he might win.

Lee recovered, though, got his knees up at an opportune time, and finished with Operation Dragon for the win.

Lee defeated Cartwheel

Grade

A

Top Takeaways

  • Lee is such an extraordinary athlete that it is rare for a main roster star to be able to keep up with him at full speed. It was nice to see him mix it up with someone like Cartwheel, who can not only keep up with the former tag team champion, but also test him.
  • Cartwheel showed it here. There are a lot of people who may not be familiar with his game but after this one, they should be. One of the most unique and creative in-ring performers in the sport.

Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid vs. Flammer and La Hiedra

4 of 9
WWE Archive

Last Time In Action: Fallon Henley, Lainey Reid, and Jacy Jayne defeated Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, and Paige (SmackDown, September 25); Flammer lost to La Catalina (AAA TripleMania, September 13); La Hiedra defeated Faby Apache (AAA, September 13)

Las Toxicas and Fatal Influence waged war in tag team action at World Collides, with Flammer and La Hiedra (accompanied by Marivella) battling WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid (accompanied by Jacy Jayne).

Reid and Henley isolated Hiedra for the majority of the match, but a hot tag to Flammer late sparked a comeback for the luchadoras and renewed energy.

Unfortunately, another miscommunication between Flammer and Hiedra, in which the latter became the legal competitor at some point, led to confusion and allowed Reid to steal the cheap win.

After the match, the issues within Las Toxicas continued to present themselves and the commentary team put over the mounting frustration between teammates.

Result

Fatal Influence defeated Las Toxicas

Grade

B

Top Takeaways

  • Flammer unloaded a short dropkick in the ropes that looked like it absolutely obliterated Reid. "Good lawd!" JBL exclaimed on commentary. Touche.
  • The continued dissension within Las Toxicas provided this match the perfect excuse for Fatal Influence to get a big win and remain undefeated on the main roster, while also advancing the story featuring Flammer and Hiedra.
  • It is a wonder that Las Toxicas have not been utilized on TV yet. They have good presence and Flammer, in particular, is lightning quick between the ropes. She shows great babyface fire.

Mini Vikingo vs. Axiom vs. Je'Von Evans vs. EK Prosper

5 of 9
Triplemania 34 - Night 2

Last Time in Action: Mini Vikingo and Chazz Hall defeated Birth Right (NXT, September 30); Fraxiom defeated DarkState (NXT, September 30); Je'Von Evans and Penta defeated The Judgment Day (Raw, September 29)

Four young, dynamic, exciting, and exhilerating performers squared off in the night's next match, a Fatal 4-Way pitting Mini Vikingo, Axiom, Je'Von Evans, and EK Prosper against each other.

There was nothing at stake except bragging rights and the opportunity to thrill the audience, and the combatants did just that.

Incredible action from the opening bell culminated late, with Evans delivering the OG Cutter to Vikingo. Prosper broke that pin attempt up with a moonsault and looked to score the pin on the fallen Axiom. Vikingo, now recovered, broke it up and followed with an incredible Phoenix 630 Splash for the win.

The wrestlers shared an exchange of respect after the match.

Result

Mini Vikingo defeated Evans, Axiom, and Prosper

Grade

A

Top Takeaways

  • Axiom might be the most underrated Superstar on the WWE roster. He is consistently great and consistently flying under the radar.
  • The finishing sequence was outstanding, with the trading of high-risk finishers, culminating in Vikingo delivering that jaw-dropping Phoenix 630 splash.
  • This set the bar incredibly hard for the rest of the show to try and top. What a match.

La Catalina vs. Roxanne Perez

6 of 9
Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: La Catalina and Thea Hail defeated Kelani Jordan and Zaria (NXT, September 22); Roxanne Perez lost to Lola Vice (Raw, September 28)

Fresh off defeating Flammer and ending her historic run as Reina de Reinas Champion, La Catalina defended her title against No. 1 Contender Roxanne Perez.

The Prodigy channeled her inner Eddie Guerrero, feigning a knee injury and taking advantage of the momentary distraction by jumping her opponent from behind.

As the match advanced, the champion fought her way back into the match. She was unable to keep the former NXT Women's Champion down for the count, though, and Perez continued to test her.

Late in the match, Perez attempted Pop Rox but Catalina countered through, stacked her up, and won the match.

The vengeful heel attacked the champion and left her lying to close out the segment, suggesting the issues between them are far from finished.

Result

La Catalina defeated Perez

Grade

B+

Top Takeaways

  • It was nice to see Perez back at the forefront, shining on her own, without the Judgment Day at or around ringside. The Prodigy has been destined for greatness since arriving on the scene in NXT and the last thing she has needed has been to play second- or third-fiddle. This was a nice reintroduction to Perez's excellence.
  • With that said, if she continues to appear for AAA and feuds with La Catalina, great. They had strong chemistry here, wrestled a great match, and the post-match booking hints there is more to come. That is a very good thing for AAA's women's division.

The Lucha Brothers vs. Los Perros del Mal

7 of 9
Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Penta and Je'Von Evans defeated The Judgment Day (Raw, September 28); Rey Fenix lost to Trick Williams (SmackDown, September 18); Berto, Daga, and Angel defeated Los Psycho Circus (AAA TripleMania, September 11)

Two of the modern era's most influential luchadors, Penta and Rey Fenix, reunited as the Lucha Bros to battle Los Perros del Mal's Daga and Berto in tag team action Wednesday night.

The heels dominated a large portion of the match, downing Fenix and working over the AAA Cruiserweight Champion.

A hot tag to Penta electrified the crowd as the former intercontinental champion exploded into the match and took the fight to the opposition, including a picture-perfect Mexican Destroyer to Berto.

With their momentum gone, Daga went low to draw a disqualification finish.

The heels beat down the siblings but Penta and Fenix fought back, cleared the ring, and stood tall to the delight of the fans in Chicago's historic Allstate Arena.

Result

The Lucha Bros defeated Los Perros del Mal via disqualification

Grade

B+

Top Takeaways

  • It was absolutely the right call to go with the disqualification finish and protect Los Perros del Mal. They are the top heel act in AAA and losing to a team of WWE Superstars, no matter the Lucha Bros' ties to the promotion going back a decade, would have hurt.
  • Penta could be the world champion right now and people would buy him in that role. Nearly unparalleled aura.
  • Berto and Angel are a great tag team and have long been due for a sustained push or something even remotely close to it. Giving them the spotlight as part of the heel faction is a great opportunity for them.

Six-Man Tag Team Main Event

8 of 9
SmackDown

Participants: Rey Mysterio, El Grande Americano, and CM Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and Omos

The star-studded main event started hot, with the babyfaces frustrating the heels to the audience's delight. That changed, though, when The Judgment Day and Omos isolated Americano and beat him down, cutting the ring off from the AAA Mega Champion's teammates.

They worked him over and even when the beloved hero created separation and appeared to be en route to a much-needed tag, Dirty Dom cut him off.

Americano finally did make the tag and Punk exploded into the ring, taking the fight to all of his opponents, including a neckbreaker and DDT combo to Dom and McDonagh.

When Omos was the last, remaining heel for the babyfaces to topple, they did, teaming up to pummel him with their trademark offense before dumping him to the arena floor.

With the giant out of the picture, Rey delivered a double 619 to Dom and McDonagh, and Punk delivered Go To Sleep to the latter to score the win for his team.

After the match, the heels beat down the babyfaces until Oba Femi hit the ring for the save, coming face-to-face with Omos. He cleared the big man out and stood tall to close the show.

Result

Punk, Mysterio, and El Grande Americano defeated Omos and The Judgment Day

Grade

A

Top Takeaways

  • Punk entered to "This Fire Burns" by Killswitch Engage, his first theme song in WWE and a throwback to his days as the masked leader of the Straight Edge Society. A great moment made even better by the fans in his hometown singing every lyric of the song as he made his way to the ring.
  • WWE was already great at these multi-man tag team matches, but when you add in an electric crowd in Chicago, two of the most beloved stars in modern wrestling history, and a great babyface vs. heel dynamic, the quality is enhanced exponentially.
  • Femi vs. Omos is a big-money match. Sign it. Now.

MVP and Overall Grade

9 of 9
Triplemania 34 - Night 2

MVP: Omos

There was a great deal of the main event devoted to Omos being the unstoppable force and immovable object, all rolled up into one. When the time came to sell, he did just that and his presentation went a long way in telling the story of Wednesday's main event.

He delivered a strong performance during the match and, equally as important, was an imposing threat afterward for Oba Femi to vanquish.

Once the AAA run is over, perhaps it is time to get the big man back on WWE TV.

Overall Grade: A

This was a fun, easy-to-watch show that featured some energetic and electric matches across the board, great individual performances from the likes of Flammer, Mini Vikingo, CM Punk, and Omos, and set the stage for the continuation of some top feuds in AAA.

The best, most consistent show under the WWE umbrella, the Mexico-based brand delivered again.
