Simone Biles Talks Possibility of Competing in 2028 LA Olympics, Explains Factors for Decision

Simone Biles still isn't closing the door on competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

"I'm like 'Oh my gosh, I don't know what the decision (is) I should make,' but I don't necessarily have to make it just yet," she told the Associated Press' Will Graves. "But I feel like it's kind of in the works which way I'm leaning towards."

Biles explained how her considerations now are far different than they were in previous Olympic cycles.

"I am getting to the age of 30 where we start to talk about, 'What does your reproduction cycle ... what's going on in there? What does that look like? How healthy is it?'" she said. "And so I think these are major things that are on the table at my age that I have to take in consideration and weigh those options and what that looks like and when we want to start a family."

Biles already defied the odds by winning three gold medals and one silver in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She was the oldest female gymnast (27) to be the all-around champion since Maria Gorokhovskaya in 1952.

A gymnast competing in four Olympics isn't unprecedented but certainly uncommon.

Beyond padding her already substantial legacy, the 2028 Summer Olympics would present Biles with the chance to win gold on home soil. The United States hasn't hosted the Summer Games since 1996.

"Like a home Olympic Games, like, how could you not?" she said to Graves. "It's absolutely incredible."

Biles got fans excited last month when she posted photos from her regular training gym, World Champions Centre in Texas.

While she was far from definitive in her interview with Graves, the fact she's still considering 2028 leads you to believe the 11-time Olympic medalist is leaning toward a return.
