San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel had 80 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals, but what he didn't have was a single reception.

The statistical quirk came after Samuel received a pitch from Mike Evans on a hook-and-ladder play in the first quarter and raced 80 yards for a touchdown. That set a new NFL record in the process.

Samuel said after the game that the Niners barely even practiced the play during the week:

The Niners are going to need to rely on Samuel even more heavily going forward after Mike Evans joined a long list of injured 49ers, leaving Sunday's game with a rib/oblique injury.
