Jameis Winston's Status as Giants' Starter Addressed by HC As NY Linked to QBs in NFL Trade Rumors

Jameis Winston didn't have a banner day during his team's 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in rainy conditions, throwing for 118 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and three sacks taken while the offense managed just 238 total yards.

But the Giants don't seem to have any plans to replace him as the starter, at least for the time being.

"Yes. Yes, I do," head coach John Harbaugh told reporters Sunday when asked if he believes Winston will remain atop the depth chart. "Yes, I do."

The Giants don't seem inclined to change their quarterbacking plans just yet.

"Not at all. The plans are the plans. The opportunities that you have are the opportunities you have," Harbaugh told reporters while discussing whether Winston's play would affect the team's plans for the starting quarterback position. "No matter what, we're going to do everything we can to make our team as strong as we can based on what options we have."

Winston has replaced Jaxson Dart, who is out for the remainder of the regular season with a knee injury. That put a major dent in the team's playoff aspirations, though Sunday's win brought them to 2-1 on the season. And Winston has the trust of the locker room.

"We did win, didn't we? We trust our guy back there," center John Michael Schmitz said. "We trust that he can get the job done. We've got all the belief in him as our quarterback."
