Mike Evans Injury, Latest Updates on 49ers WR's Timeline to Return After Being Carted Off

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans is day-to-day after exiting in the second quarter of Sunday's 36-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

After a particularly big hit, the six-time Pro Bowler appeared to be holding his right midsection. He was soon carted to the locker room.

He was subsequently ruled out from the game with a rib injury.

The injuries are starting to pile up for San Francisco. Within the receiver room alone, Demarcus Robinson and second-round pick De'Zhaun Stribling are on injured reserve. Stribling won't be back until potentially November.

Evans was putting together a solid performance as well. He caught three passes for 34 yards and found the end zone on a 23-yard touchdown grab.

The Niners didn't have any trouble moving the ball against Arizona. The Cardinals opened with a 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, but their last two games are more of what fans expected from them.

Evans' injury didn't have much impact on Sunday's outcome. Looking beyond Week 3, San Francisco can't keep seeing its receivers go down.

Aside from his All-Pro season in 2021, Deebo Samuel Sr. hasn't been a consistent No. 1 option. Take Stribling and Evans out of the mix and the depth at wideout falls off dramatically.

Especially with matchups against the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks ahead, coach Kyle Shanahan will hope Evans won't have to miss additional time.
