Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Fight Reportedly Could Be 'Called Off,' Possible Replacements Revealed

The heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may be called off, per Mike Coppinger of The Ring Magazine, who threw out some potential replacments.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reported the "issue" currently causing the fight to be "very much in peril."

One can safely assume that UFC President Dana White and Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and owner of Ring Magazine, are on the same page.

Fury and Joshua are officially scheduled to fight on Friday, December 11 in Cardiff, Wales' Principality Stadium. Netflix is slated to broadcast the card.

Fury has held multiple world heavyweight championships, including the World Boxing Council (WBC) title for four years (2020-2024). He was a unified heavyweight champion from 2015 to 2016.

The 38-year-old from Manchester, England is 36-2-1 lifetime with 25 knockouts. He started his career with a 34-0-1 record but lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk.

However, Fury has since bounced back with a pair of victories over Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach.

The 36-year-old Joshua was a unified heavyweight champion on two occasions. He is 30-4 lifetime with 27 knockouts and started his career with a 22-0 record.

Joshua endured a tough stretch that included a loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. and two defeats to Usyk. He won four fights in a row but fell to Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title.

However, Joshua has gotten back on the winning track, beating Jake Paul via sixth-round knockout and Kristian Penga via second-round KO.

The fight has been years in the making and appeared as if it would finally happen. Alalshikh announced the following on Thursday.

The fight now appears to have hit an obstacle. As of now, it's still on, but we'll see if that remains the case.
