Yankees, Orioles Make MLB Schedule Change With Nor'easter in Latest Weather Forecast

The schedule of the upcoming three-game series between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles has been changed.

On Thursday, the Yankees announced that a Saturday clash with the Orioles was rescheduled and will be made up as the first contest of a single-admission doubleheader on Friday due to incoming "sustained inclement weather."

According to The Weather Channel, a multi-day nor'easter storm is expected to impact the New York City area through the weekend.

Rain and wind are expected on Saturday and Sunday in the Bronx, per The Weather Channel.

• Friday: High of 73 degrees, Low of 59 degrees, 40 percent chance of rain at night
• Saturday: High of 66 degrees, Low of 55 degrees, 90 percent chance of rain
• Sunday: High of 65 degrees, Low of 59 degrees, 70 percent chance of rain

The updated schedule isn't a complete surprise, as Yankees manager Aaron Boone previously revealed that there were discussions surrounding a doubleheader between the two teams due to the weather forecast, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

The series between the two American League East rivals doesn't carry any playoff implications, as the Orioles were eliminated from postseason contention on Thursday.

Meanwhile, New York is locked into the No. 1 AL Wild Card spot.

The Yankees were initially set to honor Hall of Famer CC Sabathia with a uniform number retirement and Monument Park plaque on Saturday, although the ceremony was also moved up to Friday. It will take place prior to the first game of the doubleheader.

The opening contest will start on Friday at 4:05 p.m. ET, while the second game begins no earlier than 7:05 p.m. ET.
