Commanders Players Call Out 'Bulls--t' Jayden Daniels Narrative After Viral Video of QB's Injury

Washington Commanders players were seen walking away from quarterback Jayden Daniels after he suffered a dislocated left elbow at the end of the first half of their 37-20 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Some fans online questioned how those images looked. However, the video doesn't tell the whole story, per Commanders players who loudly denied the accusations.

"It's bulls--t what people are saying," left tackle Brandon Coleman said, per ESPN's John Keim, who relayed player comments on Wednesday. "Jay's our guy and he's been our guy. There's no malice behind it."

Offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. had this to say, via Keim.

"I definitely felt some type of way about it. For people to say we don't care it kind of hurts because there's a lot of care. But I don't care what anyone says on the outside. We all care for our quarterback and we're all behind him on that moment. You can't go off a simple 10-second clip."

Additonal context regarding the timing of the injury deserves mention. JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington provided it, noting that Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told his team to head to the locker room for halftime.

Halftime began, and the clock was ticking towards the third quarter. There was obviously a difficult and emotional situation on the field occurring, but the players somehow had to stomach a difficult situation, absorb what happened and somehow get ready for the second half at the same time.

Quinn offered more insight, per Keim.

"It's just the opposite of that. These guys were absolutely gutted," Quinn said.

"When the half is over, the referees are saying, 'Man, I can't delay the half. They can't stay on the field.' The players were like, 'No, we want to stay.'

"So it's just the opposite of that. They were gutted. They love this guy. So halftime was hard and emotional in that space."

As tight end Ben Sinnott noted, it was a "weird situation."

"All that stuff is ridiculous," Sinnott said. "As far as the love and brotherhood we have for Jayden, it's really strong. We've seen how hard he worked to get to where he's been.

"It was a weird situation, people were trying to figure out what's going on and they wanted to give the trainers space to do it. You don't want to crowd the guy. Obviously guys are taking a step back and giving him space, praying, and we all came back.

"All that stuff is nonsense."

For further proof on that being the case, last November, Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow against the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth quarter near the Seattle goal line as his team searched for a touchdown. His teammates surrounded him en masse then as he walked off the field in pain.

In the present date, there is no official timeline for Daniels' return to the field. Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels in the second half at Dallas, and he'll start on Sunday, when Washington hosts the Seahawks at 1 p.m. ET.
