Puka Nacua Injury Update, Rams HC Provides Latest on Star WR After Missing Week 2

The Los Angeles Rams might be without their star receiver for another week.

Rams head coach Sean McVay offered an update on Puka Nacua after he missed Week 2, saying that he does not have a hernia, but the team is being cautious with his return.

"Usually time is the best thing that allows that thing to heal," McVay told reporters. "And then once you get to a certain point, then I think you feel pretty good moving forward."

Nacua landed on the injury report with a hip injury on Friday and McVay told reporters ahead of Monday's game against the New York Giants that he was dealing with "a little bit of soreness" in his groin and that he "didn't feel totally like himself" in practice.

McVay then told reporters on Tuesday that he was "hopeful" Nacua would be on the field in Week 3 but didn't say with certainty that he'd be available.

Nacua is coming off the best season of his career in which he recorded  129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning First Team All-Pro honors and a third-place finish in the NFL Offensive Player of the Year voting.

The Rams' offense struggled in their season-opening loss in Melbourne against the San Francisco 49ers, but Nacua still managed to collect five catches for 74 yards.

Having their WR1 back on the field for Sunday's matchup against the Denver Broncos would be a major boost for the Rams, but they showed on Monday that they can still get the offense going without him.

In a 28-6 win over the Giants, Davante Adams led the offense with eight receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Reigning MVP Matthew Stafford also returned to form, recording 327 passing yards and four touchdowns.

Going up against Denver's defense will be much more challenging than the one Los Angeles faced on Monday, but if the Rams can get close to matching Monday's success, they should be able to get a win even if Nacua is sidelined.
