Cowboys' Jerry Jones Hypes 'Outstanding' Quinnen Williams as 1 of NFL's Best Players

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been impressed with defensive tackle Quinnen Williams despite a relatively slow start to the 2026 season.

Williams struggled to contain the New York Giants' quarterback run game in Week 1 and was at times slow to get up as the Cowboys went without a sack in a Sunday win over the Washington Commanders.

"Both outstanding," Jones said when asked about the play of Williams and fellow defensive tackle Kenny Clark on his Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan.

Jones continued, "Quinnen is just one of the best players in the entire league, period, and certainly one of the best in the interior line in the league. Kenny Clark has the reputation he has because of how consistent he is at a high level.

"That gives us cornerstone in the middle, we've got some guys that are coming in and out that are going to get better, and so you can build from that."

When asked if Williams was dealing with any injury issues, Jones answered, "No. No he's not."

Williams told reporters after Monday's game he had gotten "a little banged up."

Williams arrived in Dallas last November as part of a trade with the New York Jets. He went on to play seven games for a Cowboys defense that ranked as one of the least effective in the league.

The Cowboys showed their faith in Williams as a cornerstone of their defense last month by signing him to a three-year, $105.9 million extension set to keep him with the team through 2030.
