Updated 2027 NFL Draft Order After Week 2 Results, Who Could Texans & Jets Take?

The list of 0-2 teams in the NFL is quite surprising if you compare it to preseason expectations.

The Houston Texans would have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft if the season ended today.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also inside the top five after Sunday's games.

Of course, the draft order will change over the course of the season, but it is surprising to see a few potential Super Bowl contenders in the mix with franchises we expected to struggle, like the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins, at the top of the draft order.

Jeremiah Smith

Jeremiah Smith is widely viewed as the best non-quarterback offensive prospect in the 2027 draft class.

The Ohio State wide receiver is already up to 400 receiving yards through three games this season. He also has three touchdown catches.

Houston and Tampa Bay don't have bad wide receiver rooms, but if they remain at the top of the draft order, they likely aren't going to go quarterback, like so many other franchises will.

Tampa Bay just lost a generational receiver in Mike Evans in the offseason. Smith could be a perfect fit alongside fellow Ohio Stater Emeka Egbuka in a revamped offense in 2027.

Houston needs more support behind Nico Collins, who has had his share of injury issues in the NFL.

Adding Smith to the C.J. Stroud-led offense would be a massive boost for the Texans.

Both the Texans and Bucs don't expect to be anywhere near the top of the draft order by season's end, but right now, looking at the film of a top prospect like Smith, can at least help ease the pain of an 0-2 start.

Trinidad Chambliss

Trinidad Chambliss stood out the most among the class of 2027 quarterbacks during Week 3 of the college football season.

The Ole Miss quarterback led his team to a double-digit lead and then finished off the victory with a touchdown rush after LSU tied the contest in the fourth quarter.

Chambliss is one of the oldest top quarterback prospects in recent memory, but he's also more polished than most of the younger signal-callers.

The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins make the most sense for Chambliss of the 0-2 franchises in the NFL.

If Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa fails to work out in Atlanta in 2026, the Falcons might want to land Chambliss to take advantage of its core offensive players while it still can.

Miami makes a little less sense because it is in a longer rebuild and could be patient with a quarterback, but if it wants to try and win in 2027, Chambliss might be the best fit there as well.

Dante Moore

Dante Moore was in desperate need of a bounce-back week.

The Oregon quarterback threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns in an 84-0 victory over Portland State.

The opponent won't matter much to NFL personnel, but the performance might since it helped reset Moore after a surprising Week 2 loss to Oklahoma State.

Moore is one of the younger prospects in the quarterback pool. He might be ideal for the Dolphins because of how many years their rebuild could take.

Other teams with quarterback needs will float up to the top of the draft order as the season goes on. Cleveland, the New York Jets and a handful of others could be after Moore as well.

Moore will have a chance to improve his draft stock in front of a national audience on Saturday, when Oregon opens up Big Ten play on the road against USC.
