Vikings Beat Bears Amid Caleb Williams Injury, Box Score Stats & Highlights for Jefferson, More
The Chicago Bears lost Sunday's NFC North showdown against the Minnesota Vikings 9-3, but that was the least of their concern.
Franchise quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a non-contact injury and was carted to the locker room in front of a stunned Soldier Field crowd in the fourth quarter. Backup Tyson Bagent entered in his place, Minnesota blocked the ensuing field goal that would have tied the game and it felt like the season was already slipping away for the Bears.
Bagent had a chance to be a hero on the final possession, but he took a sack on the last snap.
On the other side, Carson Wentz, Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson made just enough plays to get the victory with the Minnesota defense playing at such a high level.

It was reasonable to expect offensive fireworks in this one considering the Bears and Carolina Panthers combined for 96 points in Week 1 while the Vikings and Green Bay Packers combined for 61.
However, the rainy conditions and defenses had other plans.
Minnesota took a 6-3 lead into halftime as neither offense generated any momentum in the subpar weather. Williams threw an interception to Byron Murphy Jr., Wentz had a completion percentage below 50 percent at intermission and the defenses were in full control as both sides combined for five first-half punts.
It seemed like Chicago was finally going to get into the end zone on the opening possession of the second half when Williams scrambled around and found Kalif Raymond, but D'Andre Swift lost a fumble at the Minnesota 1-yard line.
The turnover was a brief respite from the punt fest, which returned for the rest of the third quarter as both offenses continued to stall in the conditions.
Unfortunately for the Bears, that fumble was just a hint at the pain that was yet to come.
They once again moved inside the Minnesota 10-yard line in the fourth quarter behind completions to Swift and Rome Odunze. However, Williams suffered the injury when he was running toward the end zone on a possession that ended in a blocked Cairo Santos field goal.
The field goal would have come in handy when the Bears again moved into the red zone on the last possession, as they took a sack as time expired.
Minnesota will look to continue building momentum when it faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, while Chicago will host the Philadelphia Eagles as it attempts to bounce back from Sunday's devastation.
