Nico Collins Injury Update, Latest Rumors on Texans WR's Timeline to Return from Hamstring Issue

Having already been ruled out for Week 2, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins could miss multiple games as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston, the expectation right now is Collins will miss two games after being diagnosed with a grade 1 hamstring strain.

Wilson noted the timeline is "fluid" because hamstring injuries are tricky to predict, but Collins is believed to have avoided a long-term issue.

Collins suffered the injury during Houston's first practice session of the week on Wednesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that Collins met with team doctors, who said they don't believe it's a "serious" issue.

The Texans announced on Friday that Collins won't play in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Even though Collins isn't expected to miss a lot of time, a short-term absence is still a huge loss for a Houston team that has been decimated at wide receiver to start this season.

Tank Dell, who is still working his way back from a serious knee injury suffered in Week 16 of the 2024 season, was placed on the PUP list to start this year and will miss at least the first four games.

Jayden Higgins' season ended on Aug. 18 when he tore his ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Collins led the Texans in targets (10), receptions (seven), receiving yards (75) and caught a touchdown pass in a 36-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

With Collins unavailable on Sunday, the Texans will likely rely on Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel as their top three receivers against Cincinnati.

Noel, a third-round pick in the 2025 draft, had a solid showing in limited snaps vs. the Bills. He caught two passes for 53 yards.

The Texans are looking to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole for the second consecutive season. They lost their first three games in 2025 before rallying to finish 12-5 and make the playoffs.
