Lionel Messi Points Finger at MLS Commissioner in Video of Postgame Exchange After Campeones Cup

Lionel Messi and MLS commissioner Don Garber appeared to have a heated exchange Wednesday after the Inter Miami star led his team to a 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul to win the Campeones Cup.

As the Associated Press noted, Messi pointed at Garber multiple times as they were speaking after the game. Messi did so originally and walked away, but he was later seen pointing at Garber again as they were interacting.

The AP noted both Inter Miami and MLS declined comment on the incident.

Messi was brilliant during the game, scoring his 100th career goal with Inter Miami in the first half to start the scoring. He was far from done, as he assisted the team's second goal in the second half with a cross to Casemiro, who headed it home to create some breathing room.

It was another trophy for Messi and Co., which also won the Leagues Cup in 2023, the Supporters' Shield in 2024 and the MLS Cup in 2025.

Inter Miami is in position to challenge for another trophy later this year.

It is in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with 45 points and nine points behind Nashville SC for the No. 1 seed. The two clubs facing each other in the Eastern Conference Final for a right to play for the MLS Cup would be anything but surprising.

And as long as Messi is on the field, Inter Miami will be a threat to win any playoff game it is in during the battle for this year's MLS Cup.
