Ladd McConkey Injury Update Provided by Chargers' Jim Harbaugh, Latest on WR After Exiting vs. Cards

After a Week 1 upset against the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Chargers could be without their star wide receiver in Week 2.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday that Ladd McConkey is dealing with a rib injury and is day-to-day heading into a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

During the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, McConkey was attempting to catch a pass from Justin Hebrert across the middle of the field when a hard hit sent him to the ground.

The wide receiver was clearly shaken up on the play and was holding his chest before exiting.

Before the injury, McConkey was putting together a solid game with 82 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. With McConkey sidelined for the final quarter, the Chargers dropped their season opener 26-14 in one of the more surprising results of Week 1.

Herbert struggled in the loss as he threw for 209 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

McConkey, who is in his third NFL season, was a standout for the Chargers as a rookie as he recorded 1,149 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He took a step back amid struggles for the Chargers' offense last year, collecting 789 yards and six touchdowns.

After his Week 1 performance, McConkey appears on the way for a bounceback year, but he'll first have to avoid missing time following the injury on Sunday.

Los Angeles came into the season as a potential Super Bowl contender, but a rough showing in Week 1 quickly tempered expectations for the team. The Chargers have what should be a manageable game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but the matchup against the Cardinals was also seen as an easy win.

If McConkey is forced to miss Week 2, it will only make things more difficult.
