Ryan Garcia Defeats Conor Benn via TKO, Punch Stats and Prize Money

Ryan Garcia continued his reign on Saturday night with a second-round TKO win over Conor Benn to retain his WBC welterweight title from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The intensity was real from the opening bell in this one. Benn didn't hesitate to bring the fight to Garcia in the opening round, but King Ry was more than happy to fire back with his signature left hook. 

That aggression turned out to be a bad choice for Benn in the second frame. Garcia connected with a right hand that floored Benn. 

The Brit was able to work his way back to his feet, but the damage was done. Garcia swarmed him until the referee saw enough and waved off the fight. 

The win gives Garcia his first successful world title defense just seven months after beating Mario Barrios for the belt.

The good news for Garcia is that there are several other big money fights to make within his division. Now that he's beaten Benn, he feels there are multiple big names that make sense and could generate a big payday.

I want Teofimo Lopez, Rolando Romero and Shakur Stevenson. I have a lot of options. I'm not really worried about Haney now. If it happens, it happens," he told Manouk Akopyan of Ring Magazine.

"All these guys obviously have to come to me, you know what I mean? I'm definitely the lottery fight. If you want to be a huge name, I'm the guy to do it [against]. You have to get through me."

Only one of those opponents actually has another title for Garcia to collect. Teofimo Lopez holds the WBA title, although Jack Catterall is currently the "regular" WBA titleholder.

Still, Garcia could look to set up a rematch with Romero after losing to him via unanimous decision in May 2025.

The Guardian reported that both combatants are believed to have taken home around $15 million for their efforts.

It's safe to say that Garcia has even bigger paydays coming down the pike with this result.
