Van de Zandschulp entered on the heels of playing consecutive five-set matches and it certainly showed, as he was unable to match the energy or physicality needed.

The 30-year-old had a breakpoint to win the second set, but failed to capitalize.

That would prove to be the difference-maker, as Zverev cruised through the third set.

Karen Khachanov is back in a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time since 2023.

The 30-year-old advanced after Alexander Blockx was forced to retire due to injury in the third set.

Khachanov delivered a serving masterclass, winning 89 percent of points on his first serve.

Meanwhile, Blockx, considered one of the best servers on tour, struggled to find his rhythm and landed just 55 percent of his first serves throughout the night.

Coco Gauff outlasted Mirra Andreeva in a three-set thriller to reach the US Open semifinals.

The opening set was less about Andreeva's dominance and more about Gauff's struggle to find her rhythm. The two-time major champion racked up 14 unforced errors and landed only 50 percent of her first serves.

Perhaps most concerning, though, was Gauff's difficulty handling Andreeva's first serve. Despite her reputation as the tour's best returner, Gauff allowed Andreeva to win 13 of 16 first-serve points in the opening set.

Gauff, however, regained her composure and found her rhythm. She steadily eased into the match, using her trademark return skills to force a tiebreak in the second set, which she won.

By the third set, she was in complete control, breaking twice to secure the set and book her place in the semifinals.

In the other quarterfinal match, Elena Rybakina defeated Qinwen Zheng in three sets to reach the US Open semifinal, ensuring that next Monday, she will rise to world No. 1.

Rybakina initially struggled with her first serve and had trouble returning Zheng's strong serve.

However, the two-time major champion quickly found her rhythm in the second set, winning 79 percent of her first-serve points and hitting 10 winners.

In the decisive third set, both players held serve until Rybakina finally broke through late in a game marked by Zheng's errors.

Ultimately, it was another serving masterclass from Rybakina, who won 32 out of 40 points on her first serve.

The semifinals will be played Thursday on ESPN.

Sabalenka has defeated Pegula in back-to-back US Opens, taking the dramatic 2024 final against the American and then beating her again in the 2025 semifinal.

For Pegula to advance, she'll need to continue playing well from the baseline and hit her first serve at a high mark, as Sabalenka is arguably the best second-serve returner on tour, with her ability to put opponents on the defensive end right away.

Pegula is more than capable of winning this match, but considering what's on the line for Sabalenka, it's likely she elevates her play to reach yet another US Open final.
