Garrett Wilson Calls Jets Playoff Chances 'Very Realistic' for 2026 NFL Season Amid 15-Year Drought

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson believes that the team's playoff chances are "very realistic" with Week 1 drawing closer, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

"I mean, I think it should happen, I'll say that," Wilson said Tuesday, per Cimini. "It's our job to go play ball and do it, but that's how I feel about it."

The Jets own the NFL's longest active playoff drought, as they've gone 15 years since their last postseason appearance in 2010.

They've also compiled a losing record in each of the past 10 seasons, which includes a 3-14 finish during their 2025 campaign.

New York will try to bounce back with a new starter under center, as quarterback Geno Smith was acquired in a March trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Jets are also hoping for Wilson to stay healthy, as he was limited to just seven appearances last season due to a knee injury.

Wilson didn't miss a game through his first three years in the NFL, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in each season across that span.

New York also revamped its defense during the offseason, bringing in new starters including Minkah Fitzpatrick, Joseph Ossai and Demario Davis. Expectations are also high for rookie pass-rusher David Bailey, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

While a playoff appearance would be a surprise for the Jets this season, they could still climb up the AFC East standings and show signs of improvement.
