Comments from a Boston Red Sox announcer do not seem to be sitting well with the New York Yankees.

Red Sox play-by-play announcer Will Flemming called Jazz Chisholm Jr. a "bush league player" and said Boston reliever Jovani Moran should "drill" one of his teammates during the Yankees' 16-1 win on Sunday, per ESPN.

Yankees legend CC Sabathia, current pitcher Cam Schlittler made their thoughts known about Flemming on Instagram, which mirrored those of New York Knicks guard Josh Hart:

Fleming took to social media amid the backlash and apologized while saying his comments "crossed a line" as he let his fandom become a factor during the broadcast:

The comments came after Chisholm drew a leadoff walk with New York holding a 7-1 lead. He proceeded to steal second and third base, which prompted Flemming to say he was "a bush league player" for taking the extra bases when the Yankees had a commanding advantage and Boston wasn't holding him on like it would have in a close game.

Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay reported that manager Aaron Boone initially told Chisholm not to steal. However, when the Red Sox opted not to hold Chisholm on at first base, Boone had Chisholm steal. With New York up by six runs, Boone was trying to gather additional insurance runs so he didn't have to potentially use David Bednar in relief.

Chisholm went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two walks and two stolen bases, which brought his season-long total in the latter category to 40. If he gets one more stolen base this season, he will have a career-high.
