Aaron Donald-Myles Garrett Pairing on Rams Hyped by NFL Fans After Legendary DT Signs Contract

The rich got even richer on Sunday, as the Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams bolstered their already stacked roster by re-signing legendary defensive tackle Aaron Donald to a one-year deal.

Donald's return following his two-year retirement pairs him with reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason. The new decorated duo has five DPOY awards and 17 Pro Bowl selections between them.

Fans on social media couldn't help but get excited about the new pairing between Donald and Garrett as the Rams further solidified themselves as the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

ESPN's Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported that Donald's deal with the Rams has a base salary of $20 million with playoff incentives that can push it to $30 million.

The writing had been on the wall for quite some time that Donald was on his way back to the Rams. He routinely showed on social media that he had maintained his physical shape since retiring after the 2023 season, and once the Rams acquired Garrett, his preparation intensified. He worked out with the Rams multiple times throughout training camp before signing his deal on Sunday.

In addition to acquiring Garrett, Los Angeles also traded for two-time All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to shore up its defense opposite a talented offense led by 2025 NFL MVP Matthew Stafford. FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Rams the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl this season at +500.

Donald's return gives Los Angeles the most talented defense in the league, and as the old saying goes, defense wins championships. The Rams will hope to live up to expectations after creating a super team with Donald and Garrett leading the way.
