Cowboys Waive Shiyazh Pete After Viral Video of Locker Room Speech During NFL Preseason
Offensive lineman Shiyazh Pete turned heads this preseason with a moving speech after the Dallas Cowboys' win over the Arizona Cardinals, but he reportedly did not do enough to make the NFC East team's roster.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday the Cowboys are waiving Pete ahead of the 6 p.m. ET roster cut deadline.
While he was an undrafted free agent, he made national headlines after that game against the Cardinals with his speech.

"Fate brought us here as strangers, but this game, this star, this team will make us brothers," he said.
Pete started his collegiate career at New Mexico State and played for Kentucky during the 2025 campaign. He appeared in 12 games for the Wildcats and joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.
Perhaps he will now have the opportunity to join a different team after Dallas released him Sunday.
