Why Tarik Skubal, Wife Jessica Took Espresso Machine from Tigers Clubhouse After Dodgers Trade

The Detroit Tigers didn't just lose one of the best pitchers in the league when they traded Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

They also lost an espresso machine from their clubhouse.

Skubal revealed he took the espresso machine he bought for the Tigers clubhouse with him to Los Angeles at the request of his wife, Jessica.

"That was my wife (Jessica)," Skubal said while joking, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. "I wanted to leave it and get a new one, but she wouldn't let me. My wife was like, 'That was too expensive to just run the charge back.'"

With the espresso machine on his side, the southpaw returned to Detroit and started Friday's game against his former teammates.

As he so often is, Skubal was individually brilliant while allowing one earned run and striking out seven in six innings of work. Los Angeles earned the 2-1 victory, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Skubal has made five starts for the Dodgers since the trade and has a 3.00 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 37 strikeouts in 30 innings. Although Los Angeles has been inconsistent of late, the trade was more about October than anything else.

A rotation with Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow will be difficult to beat come playoff time, even if Shohei Ohtani doesn't take the mound.

And that rotation will have a notable espresso machine waiting in the clubhouse as well.
