New Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors on NFL Future, Potential Fantasy Role as Giants Eye Roster Cuts

Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly has the inside track for a roster spot with the New York Giants ahead of Sunday's 6 p.m. ET cut deadline.

"It looks like he played his way into a spot on the Giants' 53-man roster," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter. "Not solidified yet; John Harbaugh, the head coach, has not tipped his hand. But they've had some injuries to the position. He's held up pretty well. I talked to a team source who said if Odell Beckham embraces being a complementary piece and no longer the man, he can really help the Giants because he can still play, he can still get open."

While fantasy football managers may not love the idea of Beckham being "a complementary piece," it is a testament to the veteran he is in such a position to make the roster given the injuries he has overcome.

Beckham helped lead the Los Angeles Rams to the Lombardi Trophy during the 2021 campaign but suffered a torn ACL during the Super Bowl win. He then missed the 2022 season before he was limited to nine games in 2024.

He also didn't play during the 2025 season and had to clarify he wasn't retiring.

So fantasy football managers may not want to count on the 33-year-old as a top wide-receiver option, but he showed enough during training camp to impress Harbaugh enough to make the roster.

"I think he has done enough to make an NFL roster for sure," Harbaugh said Friday. "He's played well. He's gotten better as camp's gone along, and I think he deserves credit for that."

Making the Giants of all teams would be a full-circle moment for the LSU product.

New York selected him with the No. 12 overall pick of the 2014 NFL draft, and he quickly became one of the league's top playmakers as the Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowler in his first season. In fact, he made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons while finishing with more than 1,300 receiving yards in all of them.

While Beckham has bounced around to the Cleveland Browns, Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, he is best remembered for his individual dominance on the Giants.

He won't be challenging for 1,300 yards again in 2026 on a depth chart with Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton, but he is in a position to take advantage of single coverage with opposing defenses focused on Nabers in particular and help the team that drafted him compete in the NFC East.
