Afterward, an elated Wilson compared the feeling to winning the Super Bowl, which he did with the 2013 Seattle Seahawks.
That Super Bowl occurred at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just a few hours south of Saratoga Springs.
Wilson enjoyed a big victory in Feb. 2014, as his Seahawks crushed the Denver Broncos, 43-8. On Saturday, Club Reign also enjoyed a monumental victory, winning the six-furlong, dirt track race by six lengths.
Sean Collins of BloodHorse provided a thorough breakdown of how Wilson got involved in horseracing and how his purchase of Club Reign came to be. Wilson notably co-owns the Three Brand Racing LLC horse racing ownership group.
Wilson, who was an NFL quarterback for 14 seasons, just retired after a stellar career that included 10 Pro Bowls. He's clearly enjoying some post-NFL career success already on the horse racing track, and he's started his broadcasting stint as well, agreeing to terms with CBS Sports to be a studio analyst for The NFL Today.
