Both teams opened the first quarter with field goals on their initial possessions, but Rattler and the Saints found the end zone first. New Orleans capped a 10-play drive with a touchdown from Barion Brown late in the first quarter to take a 10-3 lead into the second.

Dallas added two more field goals in the second quarter but missed on a deep 57-yard attempt that would have brought the Cowboys within one point. The Saints added another touchdown on an 8-yard run by Rattler, taking a 17-9 lead into halftime.

Milton's time was done at halftime, and former North Carolina quarterback Howell stepped in for the second half.

Rattler was also pulled, with former BYU quarterback Wilson taking over under center.

New Orleans entered its final preseason game 0-2 after losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams. Wilson led the team in Week 1 with 145 passing yards before Rattler took over in Week 2 with 141 passing yards, though he did not find the end zone in a 34-0 loss.

Meanwhile, Dallas entered Friday's game 2-0 with wins over the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. Both victories were guided by Joe Milton, who combined for 286 passing yards across the two games.

Dallas will open its regular season Sunday, Sept. 13, against the New York Giants on the road, while the Saints will also hit the road that day to face the Detroit Lions.
