Dotson Out for 6 Weeks with Injury
Monday, August 17
"He will be out for a period of time," head coach Lovie Smith told Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times earlier Sunday. "We're in the evaluation process still with him."
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, however, reported that Dotson would miss six weeks due to his sprain, per sources, noting that the team signed free-agent offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus to add depth to the line.
Dotson, 29, is the team's starting right tackle, so this injury was a pretty big blow just three weeks before the start of the regular season. Kevin Pamphile will be the front-runner to take over the starting gig, though Donovan Smith, Patrick Omameh and Cherilus will also be given a chance to win the gig in Dotson's absence.
