Thanasi Kokkinakis, Ryan Harrison Have Heated Exchange in Wake of Kyrgios Row
Thanasi Kokkinakis was thrust into the spotlight last week when his Australian compatriot Nick Kyrgios made some rather unsavoury comments about Kokkinakis' involvement with Stan Wawrinka's girlfriend.
Kokkinakis faced Ryan Harrison in a qualifying match for the Cincinnati Masters—the Aussie won 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2)—but it was more about what transpired after the match than the action throughout.
Harrison appears to confront Kokkinakis during the post-match handshake, and the two exchange a few words before being split up. Afterward, Harrison is heard saying, "I said good match."
The two traded a handful of barbs during the match, including one exchange where Kokkinakis told Harrison he was "showing his true colours" and Harrison retorted, "Your crew is really cool," seemingly alluding to Krygios.
In the aftermath of the exchange at the net, Harrison made it clear that Kyrgios' comments were on his mind.
"He's 19, if he wants to get into it, I will bury him," he told the New York Times (h/t the Guardian). "Wawrinka should've decked Kyrgios, and I should deck that kid."
