A Yankee Hack on Georgia Football: I'm Not Sayin'...I'm Just Sayin'
Your best source for uninformed and biased Georgia football commentary...
I’m not sayin’ … I’m just sayin’ - Thoughts from this weekend:
A.J. Green is an absolute beast
I rarely buy into the most common offseason storylines; (***** looks too great, ***** is finally going to reach his potential, the team has learned ***** from last season); most of them fizzle. Normally, I wait three games to make any type of judgment, but… JUST DAY-UM
David Hale (who really produces excellent material) wrote that he expected this type of emergence and I figured he would be better but he might become “Calvin Johnson” good.
Joe Cox will be fine, but he will not be mistake-free
I realize the announcers loved the pass to Green over Norwood’s head…but the second time he tried that, it did not work out quite as well. (Insert your own video of Norwood’s Pick-Six here.)
I guess I just fell prey to the idea that a kid who does not have the incredible physical gifts will “game smart” enough not to make the mistakes due to inexperience. I expect he will improve each week but he has now started three games in his career.
Martinez did better than most realize
Two offensive plays from scrimmage (UGA) to 23 (South Carolina) in the first ten minutes affects the entire game. Set aside the fatigue at the end of the game, Boykin’s return gave him no time to make adjustments.
In addition, knowing his defense was tired, Martinez could not depend on tackling to be sharp so he tried to avoid giving up a big play. I still think he needs to blitz more, but unlike last year, he made adjustments during the game.
What really killed Georgia was Garcia’s running. He was able to convert long yardage into first downs or a reasonable distance. Perhaps Martinez could have put a shadow on Garcia, but that may have increased the chance of giving up a big play.
Brandon Boykin’s defense will be better than his kick returns
I noticed his coverage in the Oklahoma State game when he broke up a pass to Dez Bryant in the end zone.
Set aside the fact that he is an exceptional athlete, his ability to cover and tackle is exceptional. I believe he is better than Asher Allen and will be better than Paul Oliver.
Replay confuses me
After further review…WTF?
So we wait for them to review Garcia’s fumble and the call on the field is overturned…FUMBLE!!! But South Carolina recovered the fumble, so it’s South Carolina’s ball.
...confusedconfusedconfusedconfusedcon….
If South Carolina has the ball, why the replay?
