Cam Skattebo 'Started a Fight' with Giants Teammates, NFL Insider Reveals 'His Act is Getting Old'
Some of Cam Skattebo's New York Giants teammates reportedly did not appreciate the running back's actions during Wednesday's practice.
Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported Skattebo "started a fight" when he "came dangerously close to taking out" the legs of multiple defensive backs when he slid down following a reception. Leonard listed Jevon Holland and Greg Newsome among those who were upset.
He also suggested the running back's "act is getting old to his defensive teammates" after he also ran over linebacker Zaire Barnes during a previous practice when the defense was not allowed to hit.

Even head coach John Harbaugh told reporters, "He got a 15-yard penalty at the end of practice," when asked about Skattebo's infectious energy. "Did you see that? Yeah it's infectious. It can be infectious the other way, an infectious disease type of thing. We want it to be in a positive way."
Skattebo is known for his physical running style and embrace of contact. He is also quite energetic when on the field.
The Giants know this and even appeared to embrace it last season when they asked some of his teammates to do their best impressions of the running back:
Still, embracing that contact with your own team's defensive players or coming close to making dangerous plays, especially when they are not allowed to hit during practice sessions, isn't going to sit well with his teammates.
It became such an issue Wednesday that his head coach compared his energy to an "infectious disease," which is sure to turn heads.
Fortunately for the Giants, the season is just weeks away. They start the 2026 campaign on Sept. 13 against the rival Dallas Cowboys, which means Skattebo will have the opportunity to run over defenders on another team instead of his own.
His overall effectiveness will be a major storyline, as he was limited to just eight games during his rookie season in 2025 because of a fractured tibia and dislocated ankle. If he returns to the form he demonstrated before his setback, the Giants could have a dangerous offense with wide receiver Malik Nabers on the outside.
Skattebo tallied 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns in eight games last season. He was also listed as the starting running back on the team's unofficial depth chart ahead of the preseason finale against the New York Jets, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
That seems to be a positive indication the Giants believe he is back and ready to go from the injury, although he was reportedly not the most popular figure during Wednesday's practice.
