Real Madrid Transfer News: Top Targets, Rumours Linked to Los Blancos
The transfer dealings between Real Madrid and Manchester United could finally be about to bear fruit—with rumours surfacing David De Gea has agreed terms with Los Blancos.
However, United are said to be "weighing up" the chances of taking Fabio Coentrao from the Spanish capital, as the roulette wheel continues to spin between the two giants of world football.
Sean Kearns of Metro says reports in Spain believe the 24-year-old world-class goalkeeper has agreed his wage deal to become president Florentino Perez's next Galactico, with manager Rafael Benitez preferring "to complete the deal this summer."

Kearns writes United will hold out for £33 million for their classy stopper, with De Gea said to not be keen to publicly voice his desire to leave Old Trafford.

De Gea has now been dropped from the first team by coach Louis van Gaal, and the writing appears to be on the wall for the Spaniard, with Argentinian No. 1 Sergio Romero being given the Red Devils gloves.
The relationship between LvG and De Gea appears to have all but evaporated, with rumours a rift has been present between the pair.
Bleacher Report's Guillem Balague told AS De Gea is disappointed with the manager's reaction and feels "humiliated," per Sport Witness:
Former Reds captain and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has criticised United for their handling of the De Gea affair, highlighting the club's poor management of the goalkeeper's contract, per David Hughes of the Independent:
"This has been badly managed by Manchester United, make no mistake about that, to allow a player of his quality not to extend a couple of years ago. He had those couple of dodgy seasons at the start when he was a young, inexperienced goalkeeper adapting to a new country, but under David Moyes he showed real promise.
The question has to be asked why wasn’t [his contract] extended in that period? To allow his contract to get to this situation is poor management. And now United are paying for it.

De Gea In, Coentrao Out

The De Gea saga looks set to rumble on, but it could be expedited by the potential transfer of Fabio Coentrao from Madrid to United.
Le 10sport (h/t Metro) say the utility defender is set to be shown the door at the Bernabeu, with Old Trafford a likely landing spot for the Portugal international.
The left-sided player has clocked up a century of matches for Real since his transfer in 2011, per Metro, but his time in the Spanish capital has come to a natural conclusion.
Le 10sport say several clubs are looking at the full-back—who can also play in midfield and as winger—with United as one of the highly interested parties.

The De Gea transfer has now become the farce of the summer, with Real safe in the knowledge they can land the stopper for free next year—if United price him out of the market.
It is clear the Spain international desires a swift exit from the north-west, but LvG's stubbornness might just leave him with an asset that is useless during the current campaign.
Coentrao would be a strange move for United, with the left side covered with plenty of options for the Reds. Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind offer luxurious cover at left-back, with Ashley Young and Memphis Depay the natural choices further up the pitch.
It is unlikely Van Gaal will look towards the player to strengthen his squad, but Madrid will not be short of suitors to do business with if they are desperate to trim their options before the end of the transfer window.
Ideally, Madrid need De Gea now; he is one of the premier goalkeepers in European football, and Benitez will want stronger defensive assurances from his squad. DDG is unlikely to play for United again, so Perez now has the chance to twist Van Gaal's arm and capture the player in the next couple of weeks.
