Justin Jefferson Drops Super Confident Quote amid Battle for No. 1 Spot in NFL WR Rankings

Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is willing to acknowledge that he's no longer viewed as the best player at his position, but he's confident that he will be able to reverse that perception this year.

Per The Athletic's Michael Silver, Jefferson said he knows he's not considered the No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL, but that will change soon.

"Not yet. Not yet," Jefferson said. "But they will (know) after this year — I'll tell you that."

Despite achieving his sixth straight 1,000-yard season, Jefferson wasn't selected to the Pro Bowl for just the second time in his career. He was limited to a career-low two touchdowns amid a disappointing year for the Vikings that was marred by subpar quarterback play.

Things are looking up for Jefferson entering the 2026 campaign, as two-time Pro Bowler Kyler Murray was named Minnesota's starting quarterback after signing with the team this offseason. Having a reliable signal-caller under center should help the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year return to his usual dominant form.

Jefferson will try to back up his confidence when the Vikings open the 2026 season on Sept. 13 against the Green Bay Packers.
