New Fantasy Football 2026 Top Team Names, PPR Rankings and Dynasty Advice

Week 2 of the NFL preseason slate is, by and large, the true test runs for teams ahead of the regular season.

In a lot of ways, it serves the same function for fantasy football managers.

Ahead of the busiest draft weekend on the calendar, it offers the last real opportunity for cram-session studying. Maybe that's mock drafting, rankings analysis or team-name spitballing. Dynasty Draft Advice

Stick to your team's timeline.

Since dynasty leagues carry rosters over from one season to the next, the setup is as similar to running an NFL franchise as you'll find in the fantasy world. And much like NFL teams, dynasty leagues feature both win-now contenders and long-term rebuilders.

You need to know (and accept) your team's true identity and draft accordingly. If you have a realistic chance of winning big this season, then bump up those tried-and-true (and maybe a little boring) veterans. Safe, reliable production is your friend. Conversely, you should not be paying premiums for mystery-box rookies.

If you're on the other end of the competitive scale, then you should be throwing as many long-term darts as you can. They aren't all going to hit, so that's why you want as many lottery tickets as you can get. You only need a couple of big connections to significantly brighten your future and improve your odds of eventually finding your way to title town.

Keep position windows in mind.

While injuries can knock out any players at any moment, the trend still shows they impact certain positions more consistently than others. That's especially true when thinking of longevity.

Running backs, by nature, tend to have pretty limited shelf lives. That's one of the biggest reasons caution flags are flying high around Christian McCaffrey this season, since he celebrated his 30th birthday this summer. It's also why if you have an in-prime running back, you would much rather trade them too soon than too late, since their value could be non-existent with the latter.

Young quarterbacks, on the other hand, should get a big boost for their ability to stick around. Aaron Rodgers is a starting NFL quarterback at 42 years old. Matthew Stafford is a fantasy asset at 38. If you hitch your wagon to the right young signal-caller, that's a connection you could realistically keep for a decade-plus.
