Little League Classic Matchup Announced for 2027 MLB Season, Teams and Date Revealed

The Chicago Cubs will face the Toronto Blue Jays at next season's Little League Classic in Williamsport, MLB announced Sunday.

The matchup will take place on Aug. 19.

This year's Little League Classic was held between the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

The Little League Classic has been played every season since 2017, with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cubs appeared in the contest once back in 2017, a 7-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Blue Jays have never appeared in the showcase.

Both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies have appeared in the contest twice, which makes sense as MLB's two Pennsylvania representatives. The New York Mets have also played in the game twice.

Obviously one of the looming questions regarding any future dates is the possibility of a lost season due to ongoing labor disagreements between MLB's owners and the player's union. With the owners pushing for a salary cap, a lockout is perhaps on the horizon, putting the status of games like the 2027 Little League Classic very much up in the air.
