Cade Klubnik, Drew Allar, Will Howard's Final Box Score Stats and Highlights from Jets vs. Steelers

A trio of young quarterbacks made their case to earn NFL playing time during Friday night's preseason action between the Pittsburgh Steelers andNew York Jets.

2026 fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik saw playing time for the Jets while Will Howard (2025 sixth-round pick) and Drew Allar (2026 third-rounder) both played for the Steelers.

Here's a look at how these rookie quarterbacks did during Saturday night action in Pittsburgh.

Klubnik scrambled for 16 yards on 3rd and two in the first quarter, although the drive ended in a punt for the Jets.

He also took two sacks and a grounding penalty before closing out the night with no scoring drives on five possessions.

Howard made his first start Saturday since leading Ohio State to a national title over Notre Dame in January 2025.

After his first two drives ended in punts, Howard struggled in the second quarter by throwing back-to-back interceptions for the Steelers.

The Jets had recorded zero interceptions throughout the entirety of the 2025 season before pulling down two from Howard.

Allar stepped in to lead the Steelers in the second half. He made a 38-yard completion to Lake McRee in the third quarter.

The offensive line struggled to protect Allar down the stretch as he took three sacks before closing out the loss. Steelers wide receivers also dropped multiple potential completions from the quarterback.

Klubnik is currently slated to back up Jets starter Geno Smith, while the Steelers need to decide which quarterbacks to keep behind Aaron Rodgers out of Howard, Allar and Mason Howard.

Howard and Allar will get one last chance to compete for their roster spots during next Thursday's preseason finale at the Buffalo Bills. Klubnik could next see action when the Jets wrap up their own preseason slate Friday against the New York Giants.
