New DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr. Injury Update on Status for Steelers vs. Falcons Week 1
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. both expect to play in the team's opener, according to PennLive's Nick Farabaugh.
Metcalf is dealing with an undisclosed injury, while Pittman is battling a hamstring issue. Neither believes he'll be on the sideline when Pittsburgh hosts the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 13.

Chargers C Reportedly Out Indefinitely
Metcalf is coming off his worst statistical season, which wasn't what the Steelers envisioned after signing him to a big extension. He caught 59 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns.
Pittman likewise didn't have a great 2025, finishing with 80 receptions, 784 yards and seven scores. In his case, he had a dip toward the end that coincided with the Indianapolis Colts starting Philip Rivers and Riley Leonard at quarterback.
Pittsburgh needs Metcalf and Pittman to deliver because it's hard to imagine how a 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers will be dramatically better in 2026. His 207.6 passing yards per game were his fewest over a full season, and now he's a year older.
If the Steelers' two best wideouts perform up to their best, the passing game might collectively be where it needs for the team to contend for another AFC North title.
