The star duo of Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown was broken up when Brown was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots this offseason, but they were back on the same practice field together on Wednesday.

The Eagles and Patriots held a joint practice ahead of Saturday's preseason matchup in New England. After the session, Hurts was asked if he had any advice for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye as he enters his first year with Brown, and he spoke highly of the third-year signal-caller.

"I think Drake has had a lot of success already, so I don't know what my advice would do," Hurts told reporters. "I just think he needs to continue the progression that he's on. He's already accomplished so many great things in a short time, and I expect more great things to come for him."

Hurts and Brown spent the last four seasons together with the Eagles, making two Super Bowl appearances and winning a title in the 2024 campaign. Despite their success together, their relationship frayed during the 2025 season, and Brown let his frustrations be known for months before ultimately being shipped to the Patriots in June.

Still, Hurts had nice things to say about Brown after sharing the practice field once again.

"It was a great day out here. I know he's going out there and competing. I got a lot of love for him, always have," Hurts told reporters. "Seems like it was a competitive practice."

As for Maye, he is coming off a surprising Super Bowl run that ended disappointingly, as he threw two interceptions and was sacked six times in a 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He seems to have quickly developed chemistry with Brown, as he said at the start of training camp that he plans to lean heavily on the three-time Pro Bowler.

"Just giving more chances to him. You see with the ball in his hands, what he can doโ€”intermediate, short, deep," Mayeย told reportersย last month. "I'm not going to shy away from it, that's how I play. I'm going to keep going at it. It could be the fifth play in a row, I'm going to give him the rock."

With that mentality, it's safe to say that Maye doesn't need any advice from Hurts on how to make it work with Brown, and the new star duo will try to lead the Patriots to a Super Bowl title this season.
